Tree House Mini Sessions: Unique Outdoor Photography Experience

Keep Your Children Wild

If you want to remember how beautiful this life can be, follow the children – they’ll lead you to all things wild, and good and free. – Nicolette Sowder

When I close my eyes and think of my childhood, I smell rain on the pavement mixed with the smell of barbecue on my dad’s grill. I hear the wind through the trees and the birds singing while sitting on my pop’s mountain house deck. I feel the sand beneath my toes at the Jersey shore while listening to the seagulls call. I think of evenings spent catching lightening bugs, catching fish and salamanders at the lake, and riding my bike around the block. I smell the chlorine in the pool of the swim club where I swam for so many years, and I hear the sound of the train as it rides past my grandmom’s house.

In 2019, I did a collaboration with Jennifer Designs Events called “Childhood Games.” It was a beautiful session filled with all things floral and child friendly. Since then, I have wanted to create a mini session shoot space for my clients and their children to let their “wildest” dreams come true. A follower on Instagram reached out to me to let me know that she had a tree house and would be open to hosting mini sessions there. It was the perfect location for this childhood adventure mini session and the photos came out beautifully. I wanted to send a very special thank you to Laura and her husband for allowing us to use their home for the sessions, in addition to Laura of Ms. Petunia Bergamot who created a gorgeous floral installation up the ladder to the tree house. There were so many details for this session and I cannot wait to share with you.

Join them in their world when they are little so you will be welcome in their world when they get big. – L.R. Knost
