TBT: "My Favorite Things" – A Sound of Music-Inspired Bridal Session

Some weddings are inspired by love stories, some by fairytales—but this wedding session was inspired by a song. I thought it was only fitting to go back and give this session a revamp in the editing department.

In 2018, we brought The Sound of Music to life at the enchanting Merion Tribute House with a breathtaking bridal session titled My Favorite Things. Combining timeless elegance with modern bridal fashion, this shoot captured the essence of romance, nostalgia, and pure joy. The original images were featured on Wedding Chicks.

A Few of Our Favorite Things

With delicate monogrammed details, lush florals in soft, sweeping arrangements, and a candlelit dinner featuring rich fondue, every aspect of this session sang with beauty. The classic film’s influence wove throughout, subtly paying homage while ensuring a fresh and contemporary aesthetic. Crisp apple strudels and schnitzel with noodles were part of the elaborate dinner created by Conner Catering. Gowns flowed effortlessly like a waltz through the ballroom, and the setting itself felt like a grand European estate, perfect for a love story. Bright copper kettles and brown paper packages tied up with strings were featured as the favors. While we didn’t have actual snowflakes on our noses and eyelashes, we did incorporate snow flake sugar cookies. Even a few sleigh bells could be found in a monogrammed box with “My Favorite Things” written on the front.

From the model’s effortlessly chic styling to the elegant tablescapes, this session blended old-world charm with modern sophistication. Each image captured the heart of a classic, reimagined for today's bride—one who dreams in music, romance, and breathtaking details.
